The Editor Site, started in early 2014, is a start-up that offers scientific revision services. The Editor Site is directed by Tony Ferrar, a native English speaker with over 12 years of experience in scientific research.

Tony Ferrar, B.Sc. M.Sc.

I was born in the USA to English parents, grew up in Scotland, and then emigrated to Canada where I completed my university studies. With this background, there is no doubt that I am an expert in any form of the English language. In addition to being a native English speaker, I have over 12 years experience in research. After graduating with a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Calgary I went on to pursue a thesis-based M.Sc. from the same university. During my 2.5-year thesis, I investigated cell signalling pathways, focusing predominantly on eukaryotic protein phosphorylation. During this time I gained knowledge and experience in the fields of protein biology, signal transduction, molecular biology, protein purification and enzymology. Since then I have been working at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) in Barcelona as a research technician, where I continue to publish and broaden my scientific horizon. My areas of expertise have now grown to include yeast genetics, systems biology, synthetic biology, and protein engineering. During the 9 years I have been at the CRG, I have gained substantial experience in editing manuscripts for colleagues as a peer-reviewer. Being one of the few native English speakers in the laboratory I was often asked for help to review and correct manuscripts before submission. The satisfaction of enabling others to correctly communicate their scientific discoveries is what inspired me to create The Editor Site.
